The President

 

The President-Elect shall be elected for one term of one year. The President-Elect shall assume the duties of the President for one term of one year at the end of the President’s term of office. The President shall not be eligible to stand for President-Elect until one year has expired. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association and of its Executive Committee.

 

Duties:

 

  1. In consultation with the Executive Committee, and with the assistance of the Vice-President, is responsible for setting goals and objectives at the beginning of each year.

     

  2. Presides at all meetings of the Association and of the Executive Committee, and coordinates the planning and implementation of the Association’s activities.

     

  3. Is responsible for ensuring that the following deadlines of the Association are met:
    1. A Nominating Committee is struck at least two (2) months before the Annual General Meeting.
    2. A call for nominations for the upcoming elections in called at least one month before the Annual General Meeting.
    3. Motions of proposed amendment to the Bylaws are submitted in writing to the Membership at least fifteen (15) days prior to the Annual General Meeting or a Special Meeting.
    4. Executive members prepare reports for presentation at the Annual General Meeting.
    5. Members receive at least one fifteen (15) days notice before the Annual General Meeting.

       

  4. Draws up the Agenda for the meetings of the Association and Executive Committee.

     

  5. Is an ex officio member of all committees of the Association.

     

  6. Holds alternate signing authority of the Association together with the Treasurer.

     

  7. Presents an annual report at the Annual General Meeting.

     

  8. Stores the President’s records of the Association for the past two years.  At the end of each year shall review, with the Secretary, the oldest records to prepare one copy for donation to the Provincial Archives of Manitoba.

    CHLA Chapter Duties:

 

  1. Submitts Annual Report to CHLA one month prior to the Pres Conference Board Meeting Form is available at http://www.chla-absc.ca/chapter/index.html
  2. Ensure representation at the Chapter President’s Luncheon held at the CHLA Annual Conference. 
  3. Send a small gift to the Annual Conference for door prizes at the banquet.
  4. Chapter Presidents are responsible for notifying the CHLA/ABSC Board when chapter officers change.
  5. President is responsible to provide regular reports on chapter events and news to the Board.
